BECKLEY (WVVA) - There are new details after an attack on a doctor at access health in Beckley.

It happened around 4:30 in the afternoon on Thursday. That's when police say Alvin Ray Williams walked into the office and asked to speak with a specific doctor.

When the doctor arrived, police say Williams attacked the doctor.

Police credit swift actions by employees at access health to their ability to make a quick arrest.

Williams was charged with malicious assault of a health care worker. He's being held in Southern Regional Jail on a $1,000 bond.

Police say they will not be releasing the name of the physician at this time.
