BLUEFIELD, W.Va. (WVVA) -- The season opener for the Bluefield Blue Jays could have been worse: the final score could have been 14-0. The Johnson City Cardinals defeated the Jays 13-0 at Bowen Field, Thursday night in the Appalachian League season opener.

The Jays gave up three runs in the fourth inning and six in the fifth. Johnson City's Jose Godoy has six RBIs in the game.

Both teams are back in action Tuesday.
