Graham Girls Soccer Finishes Season

Posted:
SALEM, Va. (WVVA) -- It was an undoubtedly harsh way to end the season. No team loses 10-0 in the state tournament without some unfortunate and out-of-the-ordinary circumstances. Sadly, a perfect story of misfortune slammed the Graham G-Girls at the worst possible time. And it showed.

Graham lost to George Mason in the 2A state tournament semi-final, Friday, by the outrageous final score of 10-0. George Mason is an undisputed soccer powerhouse in Virginia but even they aren't that good. Graham was horrendously shorthanded. They went into the game missing at least 4 four starters including their starting goalkeeper, leading scorer and team leader.

Scoreline aside, the effort wasn't lacking for Graham. The remaining players played hard from the first to the last minute - another demonstration of their collective team spirit and why they deserved to reach the state tournament in the first place.
