Graham Girls Ready For Tall Task At States

BLUEFIELD, Va. (WVVA) -- The Graham G-Girls soccer team is missing some key components for their 2A semi-final against #1 George Mason. Despite the issues, the team says they're up for the challenge.

Graham takes on George Mason Friday morning at Salem High School in Salem, Virginia. A few crucial members of the team are out with injuries and some have even moved out of state. Their starting goalkeeper is out of the country.

"We like the idea of being a giant killer," said head coach Hank Furry. "We can go up there and compete and maybe knock one of these big schools out."

Graham's senior leaders expect to play well, despite the changes to the lineup.

"We're going up against the number one team right now and [a win] would be huge," said Kelsey Gibberson. "It would amaze everyone."

"I think we all want that feeling so we're going to go out, challenge ourselves and be focused," said Alysia Leung. "Play how we play and see what we can do."
