Alderson burglary solved before victims realize it's happened

ALDERSON (WVVA) - Police solve a burglary before the victims even realize it's happened.

Alderson police say Lisa Brookman broke into an elderly woman's home and stole from her. Chief Jeremy Bennett says they were tipped off when Brookman started selling things to a pawn shop for hundreds of dollars every few days, but one thing she sold had the owner's name written right on it.

"One day in particular she tried selling a 1973 class ring with the name Bobby Lawson engraved in it," Bennett said.

Bennett contacted Bobby Lawson and found the home belonged to his mother who lives in a nursing home. Lawson had no idea the home had been burglarized.

Brookman was arrested during a drug round up in Greenbrier County.
