A WWII Veteran Remembers His Time Fighting in Asia

BLUEFIELD (WVVA)- Retired Sergeant, Jackson Clark was a young soldier during World War II. He's now in his 90's.

He spent most of his time in the Pacific Theater, fighting in China, but was also stationed in India during the war.

He says, "Sometimes I wake up at night and I'm back in the jungles again and I'm back thinking of my friends that we left over there. They didn't get to come back. I was fortunate."

During the war the men in his army crew were constantly in fear, never getting any sleep. "With the Japanese in there they did most of their dirty work at night. They were night fighters and them jungles, I tell you, you don't know where they're lurking they've got so many places to hide."

Clark says his faith in the lord is what brought him home safely.
