Sexual abuse case headed to grand jury

RUPERT (WVVA) - The case against a Greenbrier County man charged with sexual abuse against a girl in his care is headed to the grand jury.

In court on Wednesday, the judge found probable cause against Roger Johnson of Rupert. He is currently facing one count of sexual abuse by a parent or guardian.

A witness from the Child Youth Advocacy Center, who interviewed the 12-year-old victim, said that the girl reported being inappropriately touched by Johnson.

The victim is the suspect's biological granddaughter who he adopted.

Johnson admitted to the touching but says it was not in a sexual manner, according to Corporal Roger Baker of the Greenbrier County Sheriff's Department.

Other charges involving other girls in his care are pending.
