Elderly create dolls for kids dealing with trauma

Posted:
LEWISBURG (WVVA) - Kids dealing with traumatic situations are getting a little comfort from some special senior citizens.
Elderly residents at the The Seasons assisted living facility in Lewisburg are hand making Giving Dolls and donating them to the Family Refuge Center.
Just last week, they were able to gift five dolls to children at the center.
The dedicated women go all the way up to 98-years-old and they hope these dolls can make a difference.
"They help children, they help anyone who needs assistance," explains Janet Bauserman Jamerson, 90.  "I would like them to get some comfort from these."
Because the women make everything including the doll's clothes, they are asking for extra hands from the community.  This way, they can reach even more children.
They work on the dolls from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and all you have to do is show up.
The Giving Doll is a program going on nationwide.  Visit http://thegivingdoll.com/ for more information.
