Man arrested after threatening diner patrons

MATOAKA (WVVA) - A man was arrested at a Mercer County diner Thursday after allegedly threatening patrons with a pair of knives.

Jonathon McKnight, 39, was apparently intoxicated at Ann's Diner in Matoaka waving a butcher knife and pocket knife and threatening to kill people if they got in the way of him killing his ex-girlfriend.

Bystanders say they were frightened by McKnight's actions.

"I think he would've actually done it as mad as he was," Ann Bowden of Ann's Diner said. "You could see the red in his eyes."

State Police responded to the scene around lunch time and took McKnight into custody. He's charged with brandishing a dangerous weapon, disorderly conduct and public intoxication.
