The CVRA power boat racing host committee announced that the 2014 Travis Pond Memorial Regatta to be held at Bluestone Lake from May 30-June 1 is partnering with WASPER (Waste Agency for Salvage, Pickup & Environmental Recycling). WASPER has volunteered their services for the event in order to raise awareness of their company and to benefit spectators and racers. Items that WASPER is looking to collect range from potato chip bags to used laptops. Race Chair Chris Meadows states that he is proud to partner with an environmentally conscious group such as WASPER in order to promote a green initiative while ridding some people of items that could otherwise cost money to dispose of. He goes on to state that the 2014 CVRA Power Boat Races and Junior National Championships are a great platform for this initiative because there will be representation from most of the continental United States and it provides an opportunity for WASPER, The Boat Race Committee, The city of Hinton, and Summers County to show their commitment to the environment.

For more information on WASPER, please go to their website at www.wasper.net. The 2014 Travis Pond Memorial Regatta and Junior National Championships will be held from Friday May 30, 2014 through June 1, 2014 on Bluestone Lake. Admission and Parking are free of charge as well as complementary shuttle service to and from your parking space to the race. The CVRA host committee is always looking for volunteers, donations, and sponsorships. The APBA Powerboat Racing National Championship will be held on Bluestone Lake in August of 2016. Please contact race chair Chris Meadows for more information at 304-237-6492.
