BLUEFIELD (WVVA) - A Bluefield man was in critical condition Tuesday after being shot in the head at a Lewis Street apartment complex.

20-year-old Trayvon Strange is currently charged with malicious wounding in the shooting of his downstairs neighbor, Steve Rhodes.

Bluefield Police say the two were arguing earlier in the evening. Police received their first call to the apartment complex at 7 p.m. for a disturbance between the two, but Strange had left the scene.

After police left, they say Strange returned and shot Rhodes in the back of the head within close proximity.

Strange is being held on $100,000 bond. His charges could change pending the condition of the victim. Rhodes is currently listed in critical condition at Charleston Area Medical Center.
