Lewisburg Chocolate Festival has Record Ticket Sales

Posted:
LEWISBURG (WVVA)- Thousands of people headed to the eighth annual Lewisburg Chocolate Festival in Greenbrier County.

There were 35 vendors set up for patrons to get chocolate treats from.

First timers such as Tyler Harclerode say, "A lot of people who have been here before said, it's one of their favorite events. I had to come."

He noted that the chocolate martinis from Del Sol and frozen yogurts from Sweet Frog were his suggestions for any other new comers.

In order to get a tasting of any treat patrons had to have tickets. Tickets were a dollar a piece and came in a pack of five.

By the end of the day, 39,000 tickets were sold. Organizers say, that's a record number.

A vendor that was a hit by many-- The Greenbrier Sporting Club's Pastry Chef, Amy Mills.

Mills created a fish tank display entirely out of chocolate, fondant, sugar and gum paste. While the display wasn't up for tastings; her triple and dark chocolate treats were.

A long line formed inside Harmony Ridge. It even went outside and wrapped around the corner. For years, Mills has made a display for the festival.

She says, "It's such a great feeling; the hard work that goes into it and to see that everybody is lined up out the door and down the block. It's so rewarding."

According to Mills, the items inside the display take around four months to make. The displays take an hour each.
