New York rescue builds new home for 11 dogs

WYTHEVILLE, VA (WVVA) - A New York animal rescue was called in to remove 11 dogs from what was called a deplorable situation.

What they found, however, was not what they expected.

Guardians of Rescue sent a team to Wytheville, hearing the dogs were malnourished and even tortured, but they were nothing of the sort.

Their owner, Michael Thomas says he hand-built the dogs an indoor and outdoor shelter with what he had...

In light of the situation, the organization decided to build the dogs a beautiful new shelter and provide free medical care for the rest of their lives.

Thomas' furry friends received a dog shelter complete with doggie doors that lead to a fenced in area for the pups to enjoy the outdoors.

Stephen Stancil is a volunteer with the organization and has been working on Thomas' case. He tells WVVA, "A lot of people were like these dogs aren't being cared for right, they're being tortured, which was all false. I learned that you don't judge a book by its cover and as you can see the dogs love Mike."

The organization will continue to check in on Thomas and see that the 11 dogs are taken care of.
