RAVEN (WVVA) - Two suspects wanted in the break-in at a Tazewell County elementary school have been arrested.

Mark Anthony Davis, 32, and Jeffery Ryan Hill, 28 -- both of Doran Bottom -- were arrested Tuesday and charged with nighttime breaking and entering, grand larceny and destruction of property in connection with the incident at Raven Elementary School.

Davis was being held at Southwest Virginia Regional Jail on $5,000 bond. Hill had just been taken into custody at the time a news release was issued Tuesday afternoon.

Sheriff Brian Hieatt thanked tipsters on Facebook and Twitter who helped identify the suspects.

A number of items stolen from the school have been recovered, including a camera, radios, and the suspects' clothing.

RAVEN (WVVA) - Raven Elementary School was closed Monday morning after employees discovered the school had been broken into.

The break-in was discovered by an employee at the school Monday morning at approximately 6 a.m. Students were diverted from the elementary school to Richlands Middle School where they were picked up by their parents.

No students were allowed to enter the school Monday morning. Parents were notified via phone.

Based on surveillance video taken from the scene, investigators say two suspects gained entry to the school by breaking a back window early Monday morning. While inside the building, the suspects broke into offices and vending machines, taking money and other items.

Classes are scheduled to resume as normal at Raven Elementary on Tuesday.

Anyone with information related to the incident can contact Detective Quillen at 276-988-1169 or send a private message on the sheriff's office Facebook page.

RAVEN (WVVA) - Raven Elementary School has been closed as police investigate a break in at the school.

Deputies are on scene and there is no threat to students or faculty, according to a post on the Tazewell County Sheriff's Office Facebook page.

Students who had already arrived at school are now at Richlands Middle School and may be picked up there, according to a news release from the School Board. Parents were notified of the situation by an automated call.

The break-in occurred over the weekend and was discovered prior to students arriving to the school Monday morning. The students were taken directly to Richlands Middle and not allowed in the elementary school.

WVVA will provide more information as it becomes available.
