Helping Families Recover After Losing a Child

OAKHILL (WVVA)- Hospice of Southern West Virginia has teamed up with employees from New River Maternal Infant Health Outreach to help families who have experienced infant loss, still birth or miscarriage.

"Many people don't' realize that one in four pregnancies end in miscarriage or loss. It's real, it's painful and it's in our lives now," said Natalie Burley, New River Maternal Infant Health Outreach Worker with the One Step Closer program. "Our society must encourage early prenatal care for women, improve prenatal health awareness and more tenderly minister to grieving families. That is what we are trying to do with the help of Hospice of Southern WV. "

Through the One Step Closer Program, New River MIHOW and Hospice of Southern WV will be offering guidance to families at the Lewis House in Oak Hill on Wednesday, March 26th, 2014 from 2pm to 6pm.

People will also be able to sign up for the first annual 2.5k Memory Walk/5k Run on May 2nd in Oak Hill
