W.Va. fugitive could be charged with Va. murders

WHEELING (WVVA) -- Federal agents are investigating whether a man in custody in West Virginia has a connection to a series of shocking, high profile murders in Alexandria, Virginia.

Charles Severance asked for an attorney during a court appearance in Wheeling, West Virginia.

He also said in the video arraignment that he did not want to be extradited to Virginia.

Severance, 53, was arrested as a fugitive on a weapons charge at a motel Thursday afternoon in Wheeling.

Investigators are questioning whether Severance has any connection to the deaths of three prominent community members.  The killings span 10 years, but two occurred in the past four months.

Police said last week that the killings could be the work of a single killer because the bullets all seem to match.
