Bluefield College Theatre will present the delightful romantic comedy, Almost, Maine, Friday and Saturday, March 21-22.

One of the most frequently produced plays of the past decade, the performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. each night. Both shows will take place inside BC's Harman Chapel Auditorium, and admission for each performance will be $10 for adults and $5 for non-BC students and senior citizens.

Written by John Cariani, the play is about Almost, Maine, a town that's so far north it's almost not in the United States and almost in Canada. And, it almost doesn't exist, because its residents never got around to getting organized. So, it's just…Almost.
One cold, clear Friday night in the middle of winter, while the northern lights hover in the sky above, Almost's residents find themselves falling in and out of love in the strangest ways.Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. Love is lost, found, and confounded. And, life for the people of Almost, Maine will never be the same. Almost, Maine…it's love, but not quite.
‘The New York Post called this play ‘a cross between Thornton Wilder and The Twilight zone,'" said Bluefield College's Charles Reese, professor of theatre.

The BC Theatre version of Almost, Maine is student produced and features the talents of senior theatre majors Bobby Hall and Summer Wilding as the various inhabitants of the town with a cameo appearance by Kara Neil.
The original Almost, Maine was developed at the Cape Cod Theater Project in 2002 and received its world premiere at Portland Stage Company, where it broke box office records and garnered critical acclaim. The play opened Off Broadway in the winter of 2005. To date, Almost, Maine has been produced by more than 2,000 theater companies, making it one of the most frequently produced plays of the past decade.
