Bluefield College Earns Military-Friendly Distinction

Bluefield College has been selected as a top military-friendly school by Military Advanced Education (MAE).

Designed for service members and the commanders and officers who influence the educational decisions of military personnel, MAE is the leading journal of higher learning for the nation's armed forces. It's Guide toMilitary-Friendly Colleges and Universities is a list featured annually in the magazine to provide America's men and women in uniform with the information they need to make the right choices about college.

"We are pleased to be recognized as a military-friendly college," said BC's Trent Argo, vice president for enrollment management. "Bluefield College has always strived to provide exceptional service to our men and women of the armed forces. It is important for us to give back to those who give their all for our country. As a veteran it gives me great pride to be able to provide educational opportunities to our armed service personnel."
More than 500 schools were evaluated for the distinguished list -- a record number, according to KMI Media Group, publisher of Military Advanced Education. As one of those chosen as a top military-friendly school, Bluefield College will be recognized in MAE's 2014 Guide to Military-Friendly Colleges and Universities.

Using graphic presentations and detailed descriptions and program information, the MAE 2014 Guide to Military-Friendly Colleges and Universities provides a comparison of military-friendly schools to allow service members to find the best match for their needs.
"Our goal in designing the survey was to take into consideration the military-friendly characteristics most relevant to service members," said Kelly Fodel, editor of MAE, the first magazine to publish a list of military-friendly schools. "We're excited about the new Guide, and we think our readers will be, too."

Among the characteristics considered most important to service members regarding higher education, Fodel said, are military culture, financial aid, flexibility, online support, and on-campus support. Bluefield College scored significantly high in military culture and also scored well in flexibility.
