Power outages reported across region

FAYETTEVILLE (WVVA) - Power outages were reported across the Two Virginias, but the bulk of the outages are not weather related, Appalachian Power says.

As of 4 p.m. Wednesday, a total of 28,415 Appalachian Power customers in West Virginia were without service, according to AEP's online outage map.

The most outages were reported in Fayette County, where more than 8,000 were without service.

APCo representative Phil Moye tells WVVA News that the outages in the Fayette/Nicholas area are not related to high winds that are currently whipping through the region, but resulted from a separate issue with a transmission line.

All counties in the WVVA viewing area are under either a Wind Advisory or High Wind Warning through Wednesday and into Thursday.
