RONCEVERTE (WVVA)- Madison Miller, a 19-year-old mother is recovering after almost losing her life due to the flu.

In January of 2014 Madison was 29 weeks pregnant and being rushed to Roanoke Memorial Hospital. There, she was diagnosed with h1n1 and pneumonia.

Doctors put her in a coma to keep her lungs from failing but, Madison kept getting worse. Doctors performed an emergency c-section to save the baby but said there was nothing more they could do for Madison.

For her mother Tanya Hazelwood that was heartbreaking.

"I didn't know fear and love combined like that until somebody says your 19-year-old daughter for no reason at all is about to die and a little baby upstairs is not going to know how wonderful her mommy is."

Now, a little more than a month later, Madison beat the odds. She's home with her family, recovering.

She says, "It feels good to know that people don't give up on me. It feels good to know I'm here and I get to see her every day. I get to be with my family and I get to be a mom."
