FAYETTEVILLE (WVVA) - A former federal corrections officer has been sentenced for selling pills.

James Butcher of Fayetteville was sentenced to one to 15 years in prison for distributing pills across Fayette County -- mainly in the Fayetteville and Oak Hill areas -- and also in Clay County.

Butcher was a correctional officer at the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Beckley at the time of the offenses.

His girlfriend, Misty Irene Goodwin, is facing the same charges.

According to the Fayette County Sheriff's Department, the two conspired to purchase large amounts of roxycodone in Clay County and then resell them in Fayette County.
