Three accused of beating, robbing man after drug deal in Fayette Co.

ANSTED (WVVA) - A trio of Fayette County residents have been arrested on multiple charges after what has been called "a drug deal gone bad."

21-year-old Penny Browning of Ansted, 33-year-old Mark Randolph Skaggs of Lansing and 24-year-old Aaron Ray Pack of Ansted are accused of beating and robbing 23-year-old Thomas Stull following a drug transaction at an Ansted home.

On Feb. 22, Stull allegedly sold a 30mg Roxycodone pill to Browning at the home of Greg Skaggs.

After the transaction, Stull says Browning, Mark Skaggs and Pack beat him with an axe handle inside the home.

Stull was able to get out of the home and was transported to Plateau Medical Center before being transferred to Charleston Area Medical Center due to the extent of his injuries.

Following an investigation into the allegations, warrants were issued for Browning, Skaggs and Pack on charges of first-degree robbery, malicious wounding and conspiracy to commit a felony.

Skaggs was arrested Wednesday, Browning and Pack were apprehended on Thursday.

"This is yet another case of a drug deal gone bad," Fayette County Sheriff Steve Kessler said.

Kessler went on to say in a news release that the victim may have to have reconstructive surgery on his face due to the injuries he sustained.

All three suspects were being held at Southern Regional Jail on $35,000 bond each.

The incident remains under investigation.
