Fayette County mom accused of forging doctor's excuses

FAYETTE COUNTY (WVVA) - A Fayette County woman has been arrested after allegedly submitting forged doctor's excuses to a truancy officer.

Nancy Tucker-Schoolcraft, 40, of Smithers, is accused of giving the county truancy officer several forged medical excuses to justify her child's absences.

When the officer was unable to verify the physician excuses, she contacted the sheriff's office to request an investigation.

According to a news release from the sheriff's office, the investigation revealed that Tucker-Schoolcraft created the fake excuses in an attempt to avoid the truancy charges pending against her.

Warrants were then obtained, charging her with four felony counts of forgery.

Tucker-Schoolcraft was arrested on the charges Wednesday. She was arraigned and released on $10,000 bond.

The incident remains under investigation.
