Help Valley College collect items for soldiers

Beckley, W.Va. (WVVA)--Students at Valley College are looking for donations to help create care packages for soldiers on deployment.

The campaign is called "Totes for Troops." Organizers are looking for things like personal care items, coffee, candy, and canned fruit.

"I just think it is an awesome opportunity to help the people who help us, " says Valley College student Candy Blankenship.

They plan to make 31 care packages in total. Donations will be accepted through March 14.

"Now we need to fill the bags, so we need things like K-cups, coffee, gummy candy, wet wipes, Chap Stick. Those type of items. They need them and it is nice to get a little surprise from home, "says Valley College instructor Shelly Smith.

Donations can be dropped off at Valley College campuses in Beckley and Princeton.
