PHOTOS: Flocks of gulls stop by Two Virginias

BLUEFIELD (WVVA) - Many WVVA viewers have noted an uncommon sight recently -- flocks of seagulls looking for food across the Two Virginias.

WVVA has received photos and reports from as far north as Marlinton, to as far south as Wytheville of the birds looking for food in various parking lots.

Have you seen the gulls? Tell us about it on Facebook.

According to Wendy Perrone of the Three Rivers Avian Center, the birds are ring-billed gulls. Perrone says a beneficial snack for the birds while they visit the region would be Purina Cat Chow, because it has a good mix of protein and grains.

Perrone says the birds will move on to their destination when the weather breaks.

The above photos of the birds have been submitted by WVVA viewers and staff members. If you have a photo you'd like to share, send it to
