Independence Wins A-AA Team Wrestling Title

Posted:

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WVVA) -- With the eyes of the Mountain State on them, all the Independence wrestling team did was win the state title before any of the final matches. Pressure need not apply, it was over early.

Mathematically, the Patriots were named champs because of what transpired in Saturday's consolidation session. Indy had two wrestlers win individual titles: Jacob Hart won in the 126 pounds and Noah Adams won at 152 pounds. Alex Daniels and Dustin Justice both had second place finishes.

Last year's A-AA champs Greenbrier West also had success. Marquis Frazier won the 170 pound state title and Malik Boatwright won his second-straight state title, though up a weight class, at 160 pounds. Dustin Yoakum and Logan Robertson earned second place finishes.
