BECKLEY (WVVA) - The prosecution has begun calling more witnesses after the defense rested in day seven the Jeremy Lambert murder trial.

On Wednesday, the jury heard from people who knew Lambert personally, and from another expert witness.

On Tuesday, the defense called a forensic psychiatrist to the stand. On Wednesday the prosecution called a forensic psychologist.

David Clayman has performed an evaluation on Lambert and testified that Lambert does have psychological problems, but says they are personality disorders which would not prevent him from forming the intent to kill.

"It is my opinion, based upon training and education and experience, that he did not lack the capacity," Clayman said. "He had the capacity to make the decisions, whether he used that capacity or not is for you all to decide, but he had the capacity."

Other witnesses who testified for the prosecution Wednesday included a former girlfriend of Lambert, a fellow military man and people associated with his short time at the Beckley Police Department.

BECKLEY (WVVA) - After a day off Monday due to the weather, the defense resumed calling witnesses Tuesday in the Jeremy Lambert murder trial.

Dr. Frederick Bernstein, a neuropsychiatrist, took the stand Tuesday, testifying that Lambert suffers from multiple mental disorders that would prevent him from committing a premeditated murder.

"Mr. Lambert has a propensity to, without much warning, blow up. Without any warning," Bernstein said.

Lambert is accused of fatally stabbing girlfriend Cyan Maroney more than 20 times in October 2011.

Bernstein testified that he ran multiple psychological tests on Lambert and found issues of mixed personalities, depression, bipolarism and the formerly noted PTSD.

The prosecution argued in cross examination that Dr. Bernstein was a paid expert witness and would say whatever it takes to help his clients win their case.

Testimony is expected to continue Wednesday at 9 a.m.
