Lawmakers discuss child poverty

BECKLEY (WVVA) -- Community leaders are trying to voice their opinions about child poverty, for children whose voices are not as easily heard.

Lawmakers met at the Raleigh County Commission on Aging Saturday morning, to discuss the state's child poverty level and how to deal with the issue.

Topics ranged from substance abuse to minimum wage and the new laws that could be going into effect this year.

Forums like this help communities come together and learn about this concerning issue.  A similar forum was held in Lewisburg Saturday afternoon.
