Snow impacts flower deliveries for Valentine's Day

BLUEFIELD, W. Va (WVVA)-- Love is in the air as Valentine's Day fast approaches.

Area florists tell WVVA they have seen an influx of orders ahead of the holiday and have been diligently preparing.

But with all this snow, they're now concerned about making their deliveries.

While many have four-wheel drive to make their runs in messy weather, they're still concerned about accommodating customers who won't be able to make it to work, where their gifts are set to be sent.

"Our concern is most people have placed the orders to go to their sweetie's workplace," said Martha Pennington at Roller Floral Co. of Bluefield.

"If their sweetie doesn't get to their workplace [Friday], she continued, "then we are going to have to make some phone calls and get home addresses."

Elaine Jessee at Brown Sack Florist in Bluefield said they're making deliveries days in advance to make sure the flowers get where they need to go on time.

"We are pretty busy," she said. "We are trying to deliver ahead because of the projected weather."

Both florists we spoke with say they will do their best to get gifts to lovebirds on time, but if you know of an address change for your delivery, they'd like you to call them with that updated information.
