Route 3 reopened, weeks after rock slide

CHARLESTON- The West Virginia Division of Highways has reopened a section of West Virginia Route 3 in the area of Sundial, following a rock fall on December 27, 2014 that closed the roadway.

Both lanes will be opened to traffic at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. WVDOH crews will continue clean-up efforts in the area over the next several days. Due to the rough condition of the road, the speed limit in this area has been reduced to 15 MPH. The traveling public is urged to slow down and use caution in this area. The road will not be repaved until spring, when temperatures are suitable for paving operations.

The WVDOH along with contractor, Vecellio & Grogan, Inc., worked diligently to stabilize the hillside and make the proper repairs to ensure the road is safe for travel.
