BLUEFIELD (WVVA) - The city of Bluefield will be seeking a new manager after the resignation of Jim Ferguson during Tuesday's meeting of the city board of directors.

Ferguson, who did not give any reasons for the decision, had served in the position since Sept. 2012.

His resignation is effective Feb. 16.

Ferguson said that the city of Bluefield remains "near and dear" to his heart, and that he will be available as a consultant for the new manager.

Dennis Dillow, the city's police chief, has been appointed to serve as interim manager. Dillow said he will only fill the role until a replacement is found and has no desire to take over the position permanently.

Mayor Tom Cole expressed his appreciation for Ferguson's service to the city.

WVVA's Kristen Conner was at Tuesday's board meeting and will have more on this and other developments this evening on WVVA News.
