UPDATE: Power restored after coal truck accident


PREMIER, W. Va. (WVVA)- Power is restored tomore than 800 customers in McDowell County after a coal truckcrashed through a power pole and into a creek off of Route 52.

The accident occurredjust after 5:30 A.M. in Premier.

We have learned that thetruck driver, identified as Bobby Perry, fell asleep at the wheel, causing theaccident.

He suffered no injuries,but was taken to Welch Community Hospitalas a precaution.

Power was knocked outfor several hours in many locations along Route 52, shutting down both McDowell CountyVocational School and Fall River Elementary School for the day.

Crews have also beenworking to contain fuel and oil from the truck that spilled into the creek.
