The Family of Kayla LaSala Speaks Out About Her Upcoming Parole Hearing

BLUEFIELD (WVVA)- Family members of Kayla LaSala, the girl who murdered her father back in 2004 are concerned that she may be released in just a few short days.

In February of 2004, Mike LaSala was found dead in his home from more than 100 stab wounds.

The investigation later turned to his then 14-year-old daughter, Kayla. At first she blamed an intruder but later admitted to killing her father.

She plead guilty to second degree murder and was sentenced to 25 years in prison. Now, close to ten years later she is set for her parole hearing on February 19th.

This knowledge brings back brutal memories for her family.

"This brings back the tragic memories of the way he was killed and it makes it very difficult to think about how he died alone. She left him after stabbing him 107 times. She left him there to die alone," said Barbara LaSala, Mike's Sister-in-law.

Family members will attend the hearing in hopes that the judge will deny Kayla's parole.

Angelina LaSala-Farris, Mike's niece says, while it will bring a little justice to them nothing can bring back Mike.

"You can't replace a life. she took a life. she took the law in her own hands she took the law of God into her own hands."

The hearing will take place in Columbia, WV at the Lakin Correctional Facility.
