Hospital Day brings local health care workers to WV Capitol

CHARLESTON, W. Va (WVVA)-- Representatives from a number of West Virginia hospitals converged on the state capitol in Charleston.

Thursday was designated "Hospital Day" and legislators took time to honor health care workers for the work they do in our communities.

Raleigh General and Princeton Community Hospitals, along with the Princeton Rescue Squad and the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, set up booths in the Capitol Rotunda.

WVSOM dean Lorenzo Pence said Hospital Day means a day of networking, and it's a good way to connect with area health professionals.

"Many of these hospitals that are [there] we are collaborating with as far as where our students go for their rotations, for their third and fourth year," he said.  "It's a great opportunity for the students to see the state and participate in these hospitals with all the different physicians and facilities."

Thursday was also WVSOM's day at the legislature.
