Emergency Responders Seek Answers After Loud 'Boom' Reported in Raleigh County


UPDATE: Raleigh County (WVVA) - Fayette County dispatchers say they have spoken with someone at the office of military affairs, which says there was no abnormal seismic activity going on in the area.

Dispatchers did confirm that blasting was going on at a nearby mine and the sound could have traveled underground, through the rock.

Raleigh County (WVVA) -- Emergency operators are looking for answers after a 'loud boom' is reported in Raleigh County on Tuesday.

According to dispatchers, residents from Beaver to Fayette County reported feeling and hearing the impact around 4p.m.

At this point, there is no word yet on what caused the impact. Dispatchers said they reached out to the National Weather Service, but an investigation revealed no seismic activity.
