UPDATE: Names released in fatal cell tower collapse

CLARKSBURG (WVVA) -- Authorities have released the name of three people who lost their lives when a cell phone tower collapsed in the Summit Park area Saturday.

Two contractors who died are Kyle Kirkpatrick, 32, of Oklahoma and Terry Lee Richard Jr., 27, Oklahoma.  The third fatality was a Nutter Fort Volunteer Fire Department, Michael Garrett, 28, Clarksburg.

Kirkpatrick and Richard were tethered to a 300-ft. tower and were killed when the tower collapsed just before noon. 

Garrett died when a second, smaller tower collapsed just minutes later.

Two other contractors, who were also on the tower at the time, were seriously injured and taken to area hospitals. 



CLARKSBURG (WVVA) -- Three people are dead and two more are injured after a cell phone tower collapses in Harrison County.

It happened around 11:30 a.m. Saturday morning in the Summit Park area of Clarksburg.

Four contractors were harnessed to the tower, at least 80 feet up, when the tower collapsed.  The workers were trying to reinforce the tower when the accident happened.  They were sub-contracted through a company called SNS.

The fifth person involved was a firefighter from the Nutter Fort Fire Department.  Debris fell on him while trying to remove one of the contractors.
