Forged prescriptions for painkillers land two in court

Posted:

CHARLESTON (WVVA) -- Two people who were part of a prescription drug ring pleaded guilty in federal court on Tuesday.

US Attorney Booth Goodwin says 46-year-old Sherry Lively of Crab Orchard and 22-year-old-Justin Woodie of Beckley pled guilty to obtaining oxycodone painkillers by fraud.

In July of 2013, Lively and Woodie took forged prescriptions for Oxycodone to a local pharmacy where they were filled.

The prescriptions were forged by an individual who stole a script pad from a Beckley doctor.

Agents obtained a copy of the forged prescriptions from the pharmacy and confirmed that the doctor had not signed them.

They each face up to four years' imprisonment and a $250,000 fine.

Sentencing is set for May 15, 2014.
