UPDATE: FAYETTE (WVVA) - The second of the two runaway juveniles has been located.

James Evans was located by a Bloodhound team from the Sheriff's K-9 Unit around 12:40 am on Wednesday, January 29, 2014.

He was hiding in a wooded area near where the first juvenile was located.

Evans was also suffering from the early stages of apparent hypothermia and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

"The hard work of the bloodhound team from the Sheriff's K-9 Unit probably saved the lives of these two runaway juveniles," said Sheriff Kessler. "Given the sub-zero temperatures and extreme wind-chill, it is doubtful these juveniles could have survived until morning."

UPDATE: FAYETTE (WVVA) - Fayette County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that shortly before midnight Joshua Smith was located in the Beckwith area of Fayette County.

He was apparently suffering from the early stages of hypothermia and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Deputies are continuing to search for the other runaway juvenile, James Evans.

Bloodhounds from the Sheriff's K-9 Unit are attempting to start a new track in the area where Smith was hiding.

FAYETTE (WVVA) - The Fayette County Sheriff's Office is searching for two juveniles who ran away from the New River Ranch, a non-secure juvenile detention facility in Beckwith (near Fayetteville) earlier Tuesday evening.

The two juveniles left the facility at around 6:30 pm.

A bloodhound from the Sheriff's K-9 Unit tracked the two juveniles for a lengthy distance before losing the trail.

Deputies are speculating that someone in an automobile may have picked them up.

The two juveniles have been identified as: James Owen Evans, age 17, and Joshua Smith, age 13.

Evans is described as a white male, approximately 5'-05" and 170 pounds with brown eyes and short brown hair. He was last seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

Smith is described as a white male, approximately 5'-05" and 140 pounds, with brown eyes and medium-length brown hair.

If anyone sees these juveniles they are asked to immediately contact 911.
