S.O.C.K It Dance Marathon coming in March

Posted:

Students Optimistic for Curing Kids and the Emma's Touch Foundation are holding a Dance Marathon to help kids with childhood cancer.

The mission of the Students Optimistic for Curing Kids (S.O.C.K. – IT) Dance Marathon is to help knock out childhood cancer by raising awareness and providing emotional and financial support to the children and families who are affected by this disease.

The S.O.C.K. -IT Dance Marathon will be held on March 7-8, 2014 at the Mercer County 4-H camp in Princeton, WV.  During this event dancers will be required to stay standing and awake for 24 hours. The money we raise will give financial assistance to families who have children suffering from cancer.

S.O.C.K. - IT Dance Marathon is looking for dancers to participate in the Dance Marathon! You can participate by filling out the application and making a donation by February 14, 2014. From there you will be placed into a Dancer Lottery where 75 dancers will be chosen. Your donation of $100 will give you one chance in the lottery and each additional $50 donated will give you one additional chance in the lottery. You can ask your friends, family, co-workers, etc. to help you raise your donation!

"Our hope for this Dance Marathon is to raise awareness and, of course, money to help kids with cancer," said Jordan Pruett, Event Coordinator. "I attended Penn State where THON was a huge deal with students. They raised money for the Four Diamonds Fund which paid for all the children's hospital bills at the Hershey Medical Center. I want this to eventually become like Penn State's THON. I want to pay for a child's entire medical bill so that the parents can focus completely on their child's recovery and not have to worry about the financial burden."
