McDowell County dog 'Puppy Bowl' bound

Bailey Bailey

WELCH (NEWS RELEASE) -- Bailey, a white and black male Schnauzer dog rescued by the McDowell Humane Society will appear on the Animal Planet's Puppy Bowl X Tailgate party this Sunday, February 2, from 3-5 PM (ET/PT).

Bailey was transported to the McDowell Humane Society's partner rescue in Pennsylvania, where he was adopted in June, 2011 . His new mom, proudly said "Bailey is the most wonderful dog we have ever had!"

Bailey attends dog obedience and agility classes where he's known as one of the most intelligent, fastest learners they have ever worked with. Bailey passed his Canine Good Citizen test in April, 2012 and proceeded to become a registered Therapy Dog with Therapy Dogs International. He regularly visits a nursing/therapy center in Pennsylvania, and sits calmly at the center while the residents pet him and fuss over him. He also performs various tricks for the residents.

Bailey also visits a local public library in his area, where he listens to children read. This helps boost the children's confidence and helps struggling readers relax and enjoy the process.

Bailey is one of many rescued dogs whose accomplishments are amazing. Each one is a gift to every adopter, providing unconditional love and affection.

The McDowell Humane Society operates a no-kill shelter at 106 Dogbone Drive at Superior, just South of Welch. In 2013, over 500 dogs were adopted with the assistance of its partner rescue.
