FAYETTEVILLE (WVVA) -- A former federal corrections officer has pleaded guilty distributing pills.

James Butcher, 42, of Fayetteville entered the plea in front of Judge Paul Blake Monday.  He is accused of distributing pills across Fayette County, mainly in the Fayetteville and Oak Hill areas, and also in Clay County.

Butcher was a correctional officer at the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Beckley at the time of the offenses.

His girlfriend, Misty Irene Goodwin, is facing the same charges.  

According to the Fayette County Sheriff's Department, the two conspired to purchase large amounts of roxycodone in Clay County and then resell them in Fayette County.
