The National Guard Helps Test West Virginia Water

CHARLESTON (WVVA)- Soldiers from The National Guard are working to make sure the water affected by the chemical spill is safe for residents to use.

It happened a little more than two weeks ago. A chemical leaked into the Elk River leaving more than 300,000 people without usable water. 

Now, soldiers from five different states a long with employees from West Virginia American Water are working day and night to collect, sample and test the systems.

Civil Support Teams will continue working until there aren't detectable traces of chemical in the water.
