Va. justices refuse to reconsider Tech ruling

Posted:

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- The Virginia Supreme Court has refused to reconsider its decision to dismiss a wrongful death verdict against the state stemming from the 2007 Virginia Tech shootings.
   L. Steven Emmert, an attorney for the families of Erin Peterson and Julia Pryde, said he received the court's order Tuesday.
Peterson and Pryde were among the 32 people slain by a student who committed suicide as police closed in. It was the deadliest mass shooting in modern history.
In March 2012, a jury found that the state should have issued more timely campus warnings after the first two victims were shot. The state Supreme Court overturned the verdict on Oct. 31, concluding that Tech administrators had no way to anticipate the gunman planned to shoot more people.
