Texas man charged with Richlands native's 2005 murder

PULASKI (WVVA) - A Texas man has been charged with the eight-year-old murder of his wife in nearby Pulaski County.

Leslie Dickerson was arrested Tuesday night in Montgomery County Texas,  just outside Houston.

The victim was his wife -- Mindy Damron-Dickerson – formerly of Richlands. She was found dead in her home in Pulaski in January 2005.

On Monday, Leslie Dickerson was indicted by the Pulaski County Grand Jury.

The victim's sister tells WVVA News that Mindy Dickerson's death was originally ruled natural causes, but in February 2013 that was changed to homicide by suffocation.

Leslie Dickerson is currently being held in Texas pending extradition back to Virginia.

On January 13, 2014, the Pulaski County Grand Jury returned a true bill against Leslie Dickerson for the first degree murder of Mindy Dickerson. Mindy Dickerson was found dead in her home in the Town of Pulaski on January 27, 2005. The indictment presented to the Grand Jury alleged that between the 26th and 27th of January, 2005, Leslie Dickerson intentionally, and with premeditation and malice aforethought, killed Mindy Dickerson. First degree murder is a Class 2 felony that is punishable by 20 years of incarceration to life imprisonment. Leslie Dickerson was detained by law enforcement officials in Montgomery County, Texas on the evening of Tuesday, January 14, 2014, and he is currently being held there pending extradition.
