BECKLEY (WVVA) -- Police continue to look for answers in the case of a freshman found dead in her college dorm room.  They call her death "unexplained."

Sheila Hopkins, known as "Coko" to those close to her, was found dead in Hogan Hall Wednesday afternoon.  Police say nothing in her room seemed suspicious that would make them suspect foul play.

No one had seen Hopkins for up to two days before she was found dead.  Students and coaches at U-C Beckley were worried, so they went looking in her room.

"The university has been very helpful in this process, and they have been very supportive of the students," says Det. Morgan Bragg, Beckley City Police Department. "We are working with them in conjunction.  They're providing anything that we need."

No word on when Sheila's autopsy report will be finished.  Bragg says that will be their next indicator as to what happened.

BECKLEY (WVVA) - The Beckley campus of the University of Charleston was quieter Thursday, one student told WVVA News, less than 24 hours after a 19-year-old freshman from Bluefield was found dead.

Sheila Hopkins of Bluefield was found deceased around 2 p.m. Wednesday. Police say foul play is not suspected.

Students were trying to move forward Thursday morning, say it's a tough situation for a small campus.

"When we were in class everybody kind of just got really sad and quiet," student Katrina Johannesen told WVVA. "I know she was young, I don't know here but just the very thought of somebody so young ... I don't really know what to say, I'm kind of at a loss for words. It's terrible."

Police and the university are expected to release more information this afternoon.

BECKLEY (WVVA) - WVVA News has confirmed through multiple sources that the student found dead on the Beckley campus of the University of Charleston is a freshman from Bluefield.

Beckley Police received the call of a deceased student at Hogan Hall shortly before 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Multiple sources have told WVVA News that the deceased is Sheila Hopkins of Bluefield. Hopkins was a Bluefield High School graduate and was a freshman at UC-Beckley, where she played basketball.

Bragg tells WVVA News that friends discovered the body in a dorm room after she hadn't been seen for more than a day.

Bragg says the death does not appear suspicious.

UC President Dr. Edwin Welch released the following statement Wednesday afternoon:

"Our deepest sympathies go out to the family of a University of Charleston Beckley student who was found deceased in her room in Hogan Hall today. This is truly a heartbreaking situation for many people.  We are meeting with UC-Beckley students, faculty and staff at this time to help them deal with this tragedy. The University will provide further comment, as appropriate, when more information is available."

WVVA News is at the school and will have more information as it becomes available.
