Southern W.Va. hotels booked after chemical spill

BECKLEY (WVVA) -- Many residents in the nine counties affected by the chemical leak are not waiting around for water to come to them.  Instead they are checking in, in neighboring counties.

The Microtel Inn in Beckley was at full capacity with more than 150 people staying there since this all began Thursday evening.

Amy Farley of Boone County said she and her family did not have a choice, but to head to an area that's safe.

"We are supposed to have to leave on Monday morning," says Farley. "We have been looking for pawn brokers in the area to see if we can pawn some of our stuff.  You know, we are just way out of the area, we'd have to come back and get the stuff.  But anything that we can ensure the kids are safe, and my mother, being disabled and diabetic, is safe also in the situation."

If you would like to help anyone who may be having trouble paying for their stay, you can contact the Microtel Inn.  They have cut their rates in half for those affected by the chemical leak.
