Communities in Fayette County remain under boil water advisory

FAYETTE COUNTY (WVVA) -- Customers of West Virginia American Water in Fayette County communities are under a boil water advisory, separate from the do not use notice affiliated with the chemical spill.

The cold weather caused a series of water main breaks, which emptied storage tanks.

Affected customers are in Lansing, Edmond, Ame Heights, Winona, Ansted, Victor, Hico, Mossy, Dotham, Gatewood and Lookout.

Customers are encouraged to boil the water for one minute before consuming it.

Counties affected from the do not use notice are Boone, Cabell, Clay, Jackson, Kanawha, Lincoln, Logan, Putnam and Roane.
