Calling all green thumbs to Fayette County

Posted:

MOUNT HOPE (WVVA) -- A Fayette County woman has plans to make her community a little greener.

Jean Evansmore owns the museum DuBois on Main in Mount Hope, but she wants to do more than that.  Therefore, Evansmore is implementing a community garden a couple blocks away from her museum, just off Main Street.

City Council gave her two lots of space.

Evansmore is still in the beginning phases, working out funding and logistics, but she knows there will be fresh vegetables and fruits, and hopefully more community interaction.

"I envision pulling people together," says Evansmore.  "I envision people getting out of their little boxes.  Come over and join the big box -- the garden.  Get your hands dirty."

For anyone interested in sharing ideas or helping out with the garden, there's a meeting Monday, January 20 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at DuBois on Main.
