Plans are underway for a new 911 center in Wyoming County

PINEVILLE (WVVA) -- A new building is on its way to Wyoming County, a 911 center.

The current center is the original location that opened in 1992 above the Sheriff's Department.

The new, stand alone building will be funded through state and federal grants and loans.  The county already owns the land.

It will include a state of the art emergency operations center, room for disaster supply storage and space for emergency services to sleep when needed.

"The staff is really looking forward to it," says Dean Meadows, Director of the 911 Center.  "They're such a great, dedicated staff, and they're really looking forward to a new center, and I've seen a big difference in morale."

Construction will begin this year, and Meadows hopes the new building will be in place by this time next year.
