The U.S. House of Representatives starts its second session

WASHINGTON D.C. (WVVA) -- The House of Representatives convened to start its second session of the 113th Congress on Friday.

A representative from our area clues us in on what to expect.

Congressman Nick Rahall says he would like to see a long term, bi-partisan infrastructure bill passed.  First things first though, Congress will be looking at the Appropriation Bill, in line with the bi-partisan budget agreement.

"I hope somehow we can extend unemployment benefits for those that have expired and are going to expire," says Rahall.  "That's very important to me, but nevertheless, we are going to avoid a government shutdown.  I feel very confident because we've reached this bipartisan budget agreement."

Rahall will be arriving in Washington on Monday for session on Tuesday.
